If you’re keeping up with our blog, you saw in our last post that this month’s truism is ‘an idiot with a plan can beat a genius without a plan’. Which I’m inclined to believe, but it begs the question: how is our idio–okay, that feels harsh–our fool ever to create such a plan?
Project planning can often be a daunting endeavor, especially on more complex projects involving many individuals or groups working together. Chief among the challenges of project planning is effectively communicating your plan to others so that everyone starts the project on the same page. One of the most common methods of communicating project plans is the Gantt chart, which visualizes the various tasks and undertakings of a given project along a timeline, allowing team members to easily discern what needs to happen when. Gantt charts make a project plan easy enough for even a fool to understand; however, can we expect our fool to able to build a Gantt chart?
My answer is an emphatic YES, with a little free help from FMP! We are giving away a simple, easy-to-use Excel-based project planning tool that allows users (even fools!) to build Gantt charts for their projects. Simply enter your project start/end dates and major task/work areas on the “Welcome” tab, then enter information for your individual tasks on the “Project Plan” tab and voila- you’ve got a visual project plan! The tool is completely formula-based and does not require any additional settings or add-ons for Excel. And did I mention it’s free? Because it is.
So plan on, my brave fool. The geniuses have nothing on you. Click the link below to download your free tool and check out our video demonstrating how it can help!
