Tell us about your professional/educational background:

Immediately after graduating from Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!), I traveled the country as a Leadership Consultant for my Greek organization. Over the course of eight months, I visited 16 chapters and assisted members with all aspects of chapter operations, including recruitment, risk management, and officer training. I returned home to pursue my career in public relations and worked for a small firm based out of Alexandria, VA specializing in government IT. I quickly realized that I needed more out of a career and began researching other paths. A year later, I was a full-time student at UMD working towards my M.Ed in Counselor Education. I was a high school counselor for 5 years before transitioning to a new career in Human Capital. I joined FMP in September 2021!

When you’re not working, where can we find you?

Outside of the regular workday, I teach group fitness classes and occasionally work at a winery down the street from my home. I have been teaching barre for almost 5 years and hope to get certified in cycle soon. I have been working at the winery since we opened in April 2021 and have visited around 65 Virginia wineries! Feel free to reach out if you’re looking for recommendations! Beyond my side hustles, I spend my free time with my family, friends, husband, and fur baby, Rosco!

What is a fun life experience you have had?

My husband, Chris, and I on our wedding day – 12.11.21

My husband and I recently returned from a 2-week trip to Italy and Germany. We visited over 12 cities by planes, trains, cars, and ferries! The highlights of the trip included the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, walking thousands of steps in Positano, touring the Vatican and the Colosseum, experiencing Oktoberfest in Munich, driving the Nürburgring (historical racetrack in Germany), and being backstage at the MGK concert in Frankfurt!

What brought you to FMP?

My husband and I on our tour of the Colosseum

Prior to coming to FMP, I was a high school counselor in Prince William County, VA for 5 years. I absolutely loved working with my students and watching them grow over the years. So, why did I leave, you ask? As you can imagine, things got pretty chaotic during the pandemic and caused me to reevaluate my professional goals. After an extreme amount of consideration, I decided that transitioning to a new career was the best thing for me, both personally and professionally. I am so fortunate to have found a place in FMP that allows me to help people daily and work alongside clients who make me feel like one of their own.

What do you like most about working at FMP?

Due to the nature of my role, I don’t have the opportunity to work with fellow FMPers on a regular basis. This was a bit intimidating considering I was brand new to Human Capital. I really appreciate FMP’s culture of support across tasks and projects and the willingness of my colleagues to answer questions and offer feedback. This support has been critical for my professional development in a new field.

What projects have you worked on since you joined FMP?

My very best friends of 15+ years!

I am in a unique position where 100% of my time is dedicated to a single task. I support my client’s Payroll and Benefits Services branch, specifically the Work/Life Programs team. I assist with nearly every aspect of the portfolio, including the Fitness Center team (fulltime Health Coach, Dietitian, and onsite fitness center), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), extensive catalog of work/life benefits, and the COVID-19 Screening Program. Currently, our team is fully immersed in the new telework policy and approving agreements for all employees. My day-to-day consists of answering countless emails that come through the help desk and assisting employees with completion of their Telework Agreements to prepare for the reopening.
